Public Program Schedule

Guided Dog Walks Saturday, June 1st, July 6th and August 3rd 10:00 am — 11:00 am Bring your best friend and join us for a guided dog walk at the park! This guided walk is great for socialization and healthy exercise! Dogs must be on a leash at all times. Current license or proof of rabies vaccination required. Aggressive dogs will not be allowed to participate. $5/dog. Proceeds benefit Volunteers for Animals. Meet at Interpretive Center. 

 

Camp Hard Hat Monday, July 29th – Friday, August 2nd | 9:00 am – 4:00 pm Learn about careers in construction and build a community project! Instructed by certified teachers and GVEP Building Trades instructors. $95/Camper- Includes a camp t-shirt and water bottle. Scholarships are available. Open to students entering grades 8-10. Kayaking at DeWitt Recreation Area Saturday, August 10th Session 1: 10:00 am–12:00 pm Session 2: 1:00 pm-3:00 pm Seize the day with a guided kayak tour of DeWitt Lake! Explore the lake by water and discover a new world. Meet at the boat launch at DeWitt Recreation Area. No experience needed, lesson provided! Kayak rentals with life vests are provided. Ages 12 and up. Guided tour fee is $15/person w/o rental, $25/person w/ rental.

Painting in the Park at DeWitt Recreation Area Saturday, August 17th | 10 am – 12:30 pm In partnership with Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge, join us for a nature art program at the DeWitt Recreation Area! Join Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge Urban Community Engagement Fellow, Stephanie Ibarra, to learn the basics of painting in nature! Together, we’ll paint a scene inspired by our natural surroundings at the park. Beginners welcome. Materials will be provided! Space is limited – registration required. This program is FREE. Meet at Pavilion 2.

Music in the Park at DeWitt Recreation Area Satuday, August 3rd | 6:30 pm — 8 pm Enjoy a summer night with a free concert featuring the Batavia Swing Band/Combo! Meet us at Pavilion 2, bring a lawn chair and your favorite people! First come, first served seating at picnic tables. This concert is FREE! Made possible by generous funding by the Association for the Conservation of Recreational and Natural Spaces (ACORNS).
