Moonlight Snowshoe Hikes – Saturday, February 8th | 5: 00 pm – 6: 30 pm: Join Genesee County Parks for a winter walk underneath the ( almost) full moon! Enjoy the tranquil beauty of the forest by moonlight. Snowshoes may be used, weather permitting, and are provided or you may bring your own. No previous experience needed, snowshoeing lesson included! Hike concludes with refreshments by a warm fire. Meet at Pavilion B. $ 5/ person or $ 15/ family.
Winter Hiking Challenge – Saturday, January 25th | 10: 00 am — 12: 00 pm: This winter, Genesee County Park & Forest is proud to be included in the Outside Chronicles Winter Hiking Challenge! This fun challenge encourages participants to explore new trails and discover the love of hiking. Join the Genesee County ACORNS for a fun hike along the challenge route, ending at the Interpretive Nature Center. This program is free.
Groundhog Day :Walk – Saturday, February 1st | 10: 00 am — 11: 30 am It’ s Groundhog Day – again! Legend has it that if a woodchuck sees his shadow on Groundhog Day, we’ ll have six more weeks of winter. Join us for a short walk we’ ll learn about Groundhog Day and other ways to predict the weather. This walk will begin with a short story time inside at the Interpretive Center. Meet at the Interpretive Center. $ 5/ person or $ 10/ family.
Great Backyard Bird Count – Sunday, February 15th | 9: 00 am – 10: 30 am Join the Genesee County Parks for the Great Backyard Bird Count! The GBBC is an annual community science event sponsored by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Birders around the world will be counting birds. Join us for an easy- paced walk! Beginners are welcome. Field guides and binoculars will be available to borrow. Meet at Pavilion B parking lot. Cost is $ 5/ person or $ 10/ family.
